Get Dirty- and Rejoice!

Glory be to Jesus Christ!

Sometimes it’s easy to fall into the idea that God is sitting on His throne in heaven being perfect and waiting for us to find Him, that this whole life is a giant game of hide and seek and God is hiding and we are seeking. Make no mistake, God is perfect and He is enthroned in Glory. We also need to seek Him- but only to discover that He found us first!

Our reading today (Luke 15:1-10) shows us a God who is seeking and searching for those who are lost, and His joy is in the finding of them. The incredible gift He has given us is the ability to seek with Him. He sends us out to search and seek those who are lost, and with the searching and finding, we share int he joy of the Father!

How truly does this ring in your life?

  1. Are you aware throughout the day of God’s active role in bringing you closer to Him?
  2. Are you aware of instances throughout the day of helping introduce or reacquaint others with our Lord?
  3. Are you truly joyful over the repentance of sinners? Including yourself?

Pope Francis, in his Apostolic Exhortation The Joy of the Gospel, sums up our responsibility and our joy by stating: “I prefer a Church which is bruised, hurting and dirty because it has been out on the streets, rather than a Church which is unhealthy from being confined and from clinging to its own security.” Let’s not be afraid to get dirty in order to bring someone to our Father’s House for supper. Then we will know the joy of Him who found us!

Glory be to Jesus Christ!

Make no mistake, God is perfect and He is enthroned in Glory. We also need to seek Him- but only to discover that He found us first!
